Ancient Egyptian Astronomy

Ancient Egyptian Astronomy is very different from our modern day astronomy, but it was very vital for the ancient Egyptians belief system.

Ancient Egyptian astronomy was a very complex system which has survived for so long, that no one has come near to find any beginning of its creation. Where exactly Ancient Egyptian astronomy descends from is unknown, there are theories but nothing proven by archeological finds.

"From the beginning there were the stars, and when he said there should be light, they alighted and were forever".

The old Pyramid builders are proven to be star worshippers, whereas the later Egyptians would come to change their belief purposely away from the stars. But they always mentioned them, as if they were unsure of which was right, so they kept the names and their beings.

Actually the later Egyptians could not root out the star worshippers from their ancient past, because their basic numeral system was build up by them.

The most important deity was the great lady Sirius, she was called Sopdet in ancient Egypt and she was the queen of the night heaven, the queen of the stars, Queen of the Decans.

The lady Sirius had a great husband who was the famous Orion, and his name was Sah in ancient Egypt, and he was one of the 36 Decans.

The old Pyramid builders believed that their soul would travel towards the pointed star, the pointed star is Sirius.

When a person was deceased, they believed that the soul automatically became a sister or brother to the stars, the greatest gods and goddess whom are below the greatest one, for it was universal.

Ancient Egyptian Astronomy was seen like their writing system, a symbol system rather than a letter system.

The Greeks changed a lot, especially flipping genders and attributes of the gods and goddess. For instance in Ancient Greek mythology the earth was female and called Gaia, whereas in ancient Egyptian astronomy the earth was male and called Geb.

The Mysteries of Ancient Egypt

This blog takes you on a journey towards the inner most valuable wisdom from the forgotten past. The mysteries of ancient Egypt are quite unique because a lot was documented in the mysterious land of Egypt by the scribers (writers).

Some of the mysteries of ancient Egypt are well known because such remarkable treasures were left and survives to this present day, which clearly illustrates a higher knowledge. Some of the finds are so mysterious that we don't even know how they were made.

Their achievements have some people speculating into alien theories, I think people with this idea which is based solely upon their belief that an ancient Egyptian were not that cleaver, is absolutely absurd and reflect more about modern man than the ancient people of Egypt.

One just has to look at other mysteries of ancient Egypt than just the pyramids, to easily conclude that they were a remarkable people. If the pyramids were built by aliens then their writing system must be made by aliens too? which is so ridicules to think. Their writing system is as complex as the ancient Chinese writing system, and no one is talking aliens when it comes to the Great Wall of China or their other great monuments.

I look at the ancient people with a scientific mind as well as with a spiritual heart, and I can agree to this, the real mysteries of ancient Egypt are the fact of their knowledge, especially their knowledge of the stars and our systems movement.

The Alien idea might become more relevant when we look at the astronomy of the ancient Egyptian people, which is rather stunning by it self. I quite understand why people would turn towards this possibility, and I won't be the one dissing it. I only dis the fact that people believe monuments to have been built by an alien rather than a human, and offers no proof of such. I follow facts, which are based on solid and logical theories which are based on actual findings. But this does not mean that the other ways are wrong. I believe we each have our path in life.

The mysteries of ancient Egypt reveals a lot of things which are rarely mentioned in regular documentaries or other journals, this is a unique blog because it offers a rather reverse insight to the ancient Egyptians belief system. It is not merely focused on pharaohs and actual archeological findings, but again it is a mixture of it all.

When we look back we will be better able to look into our future, and if we are attentive to our 'human' nature, then we might be able to change ourselves and move towards the dreams instead of living out the nightmares.

An Unforgettable Night for a Guide - Private Story

As you probably already know, I worked as a guide touring between Luxor and Aswan. I think I had been working in Egypt for like two weeks when suddenly something strange happened. It would be an experience that I will never forget, and it still blows my mind to think about.
You might not believe my words, but there were witnesses and believe me, I could not make this up. But the last part is up to you, I just know what I live.

I do hope that its alright to tell this story, Its been years, and there should be no contract breach of this story (or I hope).

So one night after me and my teacher had dinner with our guests, I returned to my room at the lower deck, I needed to prepare for the next day. So there I was tugged up in the bed with around 5 books around me, when suddenly my teacher came storming through the cabin door. With a panic like look she said "Karima we have got an emergency, and you have to jump ship!"
I looked at her and said "Say what?" She went on saying "Here is what has happened, one of our other guides has just left their guests'. The boat signed them in and diverted their attention, so that they did not know the guide hadn't turned up as their boat set sail. The guide is not picking up their phone and we can't find the person. Now Karima, you have to go from this ship to another ship and take care of the guests until we fix the situation."
I remember just being blank as she spoke and thinking "What?..."
She continued "You have to pack some things because you will be travelling with them for a couple of days. Another thing, these guests are on a first class tour, and I think they will be pleased with you. Now the problem lies in as you very well know, that we are sailing right now, and there is no docking until after tomorrow. We have talked to the captain of the ship and he will sail into Esna's shores and so will the other ship, then you have to climb down from this ship and climb up the other ship".

Still in a small state of chock I packed a bag and went with her. We walked all the way through the ship and through the engine room until we reached the end, where people where preparing for what was to come next.

I just have to make a quick input here, been in Egypt less than two weeks, then suddenly I have to climb a ship. I thought it could not be that hard, because the ship did not look that high when it was docking... But sadly I was very mistaken.. It is quite sad that I didn't have a camera with me, but as a guide you really don't have time to stop up and take pictures.

I looked at my guide teacher, and she was now laughing, because the situation was so ridicules. I panicky laughed a little bit too, but what I was seeing was not what I had expected.

First off, these ships are like two floors high, when they just sail up into the sand shore. No matter the situation, it was a remarkable view and something that I will never forget. But it felt film like, you know where you're asking yourself, is this really happening, am I really seeing what I am seeing?
I saw two giant boats ram up on the Nile river shore at Esna, and there was a long way down to the sandy beach. I remember the sky was clear of clouds and I could see the stars and the moon, it was a unique experience indeed.

Well I threw my shoos as hard as I could overboard, then I saw a very small plank being dragged overboard. I looked at my teacher and said "Is that how I'll be getting down from here?" She was laughing very hard, and said "Yes, there is no other way to do this". Now I cannot describe it completely, but there I stood in a white dress and sandals overboard. I was scared, but the adrenalin had completely pumped my body full of its energetic power, so I was ready to go.

One of the ship workers easily took my bag on his shoulder and ran down like it was nothing, I was amazed at how easily he did it. I on the other hand did not do is so easily. I grabbed hold of the ship railing and placed my feet steadily on the plank and began moving down. Pretty interestingly it was not as hard as I had imagined, but the plank did wobble a lot.

On the sand shore I picked up my sandals and looked up at the ship that I had just climbed drown from, and then over to the other.

I did make it, and in a rather good manner, none of the gusts suspected anything and I was not allowed to say.

I have to stop it here, sorry for the long post, but I just thought I share something from my private life experience baggage.

The Mysterious Disappearance of Queen Nefertiti

She was considered the most beautiful woman of her time, and she would prove herself to be much more than yet another pretty face. Queen Nefertiti was a very strong woman and her background is as mysterious as her being.

Where to locate Queen Nefertiti in ancient Egyptian History

Queen Nefertiti was married to Akhenaton (Amenhotep IV) whom is said to be the father of Tutankhamun which means that she was Tutankhamuns stepmother.

As she was the wife of Akhenaton whom ruled Egypt between 1350 and 1334 B.C. (Before Christ), we can place her to pretty much to the same time between 1350 and 1334 B.C.

Queen Nefertiti was born around 100 years after the Great Pharaoh/Queen Hatshepsut and 100 years before the days of Seti I and his son Ramesses II.

If I had to explain how Queen Nefertiti and Akhenaton changed the ancient Egyptian world, this would become a book post. But you most probably already know about the scope of the story, namely they moved the capital and changed the religion, which off course caused a lot of problems for the priest, pretty much making them unemployed.

This is not a post detailing the events that happened, but I do suspect that these events were exactly the reason for what happened next.

The Mysterious Disappearance of Queen Nefertiti

A big and quite interesting question to pose in regards to Queen Nefertiti and her husband Akhenaton is, why did they change things so radically? Akhenaton seems to have followed the old ways as a child, then suddenly everything flips 180 degrees.

Queen Nefertiti just stops being mentioned from the year 13 in Akhenaton's rule, and now their temples are battered ruins. There are so many questions about this family, especially from Akhenaton's time and onwards in their kingdom.

There are some theories that she is the pharaoh Smenkhare, but many seem to disagree on this point, and since no real evidence so fare proves one or the other, this must be left open to future debates.

It is most logical that she has died, but under what circumstance is unknown.

Personal note:
In the Boston museum there exists a block of stone with a relief of Nefertiti, but it is quite different that other reliefs. On it we see Queen Nefertiti depicted in a large boat, with her own image at the end of some big paddles. And Queen Nefertiti is seen standing in the Pharaohs position smiting a captive, which we normally see in regards to the pharaohs wars. In the relief she shows a clear war like nature, but I have never seen Akhenaton in such a pose. Their roles seem to have been reversed, in that Akhenaton seems more feminine like and Queen Nefertiti seems very masculine in her nature.

This could be proof of what kind of fate she might have had. She defiantly angered a lot of priests, whom were used to things in a different manner. Her own father's position as Vizier could also have added to the conflict between the kingdom and the priesthood. It is very obvious that the priests didn't care for her, because there is not a lot of her personal things found, and those that are found in others graves, indicating a clear lack of interest in keeping her and her things together, which was essential for the afterlife in those days.

I know that there was a lot that I did not mention, because as I said that would be equal to a books length. I simply try to give you information that is not mentioned even thou its true, let's call it a different angle on that ancient history, than the regular guide book.

If you ever visit Cairo museum, then you must check out the Tutankhamun section especially the outer coffin of Tutankhamun. Most people are normally more attracted to the famous mask of Tutankhamun, I went the completely different way.

I found myself most attracted to the outer coffin of Tutankhamun, which by themselves are a remarkable achievement.

Do you know what Tutankhamun means?

His name was Tut-ankh-amun
(Note: The pharaohs of ancient Egypt had many names, reflecting different sides to that specific pharaoh (king). Tutankhamun, was also known under his birth name of Tut-ankh-amen (amen was from his fathers days, this would take several books by itself to explain)).

Tut - This part I find rather interesting, because it is not as straight forward to translate.
In this case it means Image of Amen, Image of Atem.

Ankh - The ankh was the symbol of life.

Amun - Amon was one of the great gods (in some periods in time he was the greatest god, depending on the priesthood. Tut-ankh-amun live in what is today known as Luxor, which was a centre for the Amon priesthood).
The word Amun is translated to mean 'what is hidden,' 'what is not seen,' 'what cannot be seen' in short 'hidden'

The outer coffin of Tutankhamun

The pictures above shows you a little bit of the outer coffin of Tutankhamun, the boy king. The outer coffin of Tutankhamun was decorated with gold leafs that enhance the strange details upon the coffin.

I classify them as unidentified beings, because their nature is still unknown. One thing I do know for curtain is that these beings belong to the journey of the soul, hereby linking them directly to the stars. The stars will always be the centre of the ancient Egyptian religion, both if you follow the older gods or the Osiris path.

The outer coffin of Tutankhamun is filled with these mysterious beings.

I have always thought that Tutankhamun was a patchy of the events happening between Akhenatons rule and the priest's opposition.

The Forgotten Labyrinth of Egypt - Private Archive #0092

In #0091 posts I told you about a journey that I took to a curtain place in the great desert land. I was looking for a specific pyramid for a very specific reason the forgotten labyrinth of Egypt. I did not disclose this in the other post, but I'll give you a peek now.

The Forgotten Labyrinth of Egypt - Private Archive #0092

I was looking for the forgotten Labyrinth of Egypt, which belonged to the pharaoh Amenemhat III. He built the greatest labyrinth besides his pyramid, but it was actually not a labyrinth at all. With all its corridors and small temples, people that came from outside Egypt saw it as the labyrinth of Egypt and named it such.

Then what was the Labyrinth of Egypt ?

It was something much more, something more divine in design. For the labyrinth of Egypt was the temple for each city in ancient Egypt, and each city (norme) was representation (of living place) of a god. This is, what is said, but I suspect it to be a dedication not only to the cities (norme's) but also to the Decans (stars). The Decans makes more sense because of the location of the structure, where as the gods and goddess belongs more among the living, on the other side of the Nile (but this is just my theory).

"The ancient Pyramid builders believed in the Starry kingdom (heavenly kingdom of the stars), maybe their pyramid was a pin-pointer for the pointed star which they spoke so much about".

The labyrinth of Egypt was counted to be 1500 chambers linked together above ground and 1500 chambers liked together with corridors of different sizes beneath the ground. The 1500 chamber above ground was for everyone, or should we say for the public. The 1500 chambers beneath the ground was off limits for everyone except priests and others with high statues.

There we were stuck in the desert and I had to go to the toilet, There is only a Southpark Cartman statement to give to that "bip bip bip DaMmIT!"

Very interestingly in the middle of no where, with only piles of rocks in sight, there suddenly sits a couple of military people. As we approached they came over to us, and asked what we wanted, I told them that we wanted to see the pyramid of Amenemhat III. They were probably wondering why, because there is nothing left, as you can see on the picture above.

The pyramid still stands, but no one can enter, because of the ground water. But I was not there to enter anything, I was merely there because I wanted to observe the terrain, which reveals a lot by itself.

The military personnel kindly took me as fare into the pyramid as one could go, I could have dipped my toes in the dark scary looking water. But they followed us around, and I could not look at things like I wanted to, in total calmness, patiently, letting the sun change the colour of the sand. I felt very rushed.

The 1500 chambers of the labyrinth of Egypt

The labyrinth of Egypt, the part above ground has been lost for ages now. It is so sad that there is so much destruction among men..

"But I am very curtain that the 1500 chambers beneath the ground in the labyrinth of Egypt, still stands, and if I am not mistaken then no one has ever found a way into them, but I am curtain that the way is there. It's locked in the ancient manner, thereby making it invisible for modern man".

The Murder of Amenemhet I and the Lost Millingen Papyrus

The 12 Dynasty began with the pharaoh Amenemhet I, he ruled between 1991 B.C - 1962 B.C, almost 4000 years ago.

The 200 years or more before the rule of Amenemhet I had been filled with wars, so Amenemhet I task was not a small one, especially considering he was not of royal blood.
But he was indeed in a very good position to take advantages of the turmoil in the kingdom. He is said to have been the vizier of Pharaoh Mentuhotep III. Amenemhet I was also known as Ameny and Ammenemes, he would come to reign for 30 years, and brought a large amount of stability to the country.

To be very honest about this, Amenemhet I gathered together a large army and over threw the pharaoh. But it is also said that he did not stop there, Amenemhet I would not rest until all his rivals were dead. Beginning ones ruler ship through the means of a cup will defiantly give birth to new enemies.
And one night Amenemhet I felt the hunter's breath near his bed.

The Murder of Amenemhet I and The Lost Millingen Papyrus

The Milligen papyrus is lost today, but before it mysteriously disappeared it was copied. It is a very unusual text, because it is a text that was seen as written by Amenemhet I (after his death), to his son Senwosret, about his own murder. It should be seen as a political propaganda poem.

The beginning of the Instruction given by his Majesty the King of Upper and Lower Egypt, Seheteo-ib-Re, son of Re, Amenemhet, justified, when he spoke revealing truth to his son, the Lord of all, He said:

"You who have risen as a god, Give heed to what I (Amenemhet I) shall say to you, So that you may reign over the land, rile the shores (of the Nile), And bring about an abundance of what is good and beneficial.

Maintain your vigilance against those who should be subordinate to you, But who turn out not to be so, Men in whose loyalty one can place no trust; Do not let yourself be alone with them.

Put no trust in a brother, Acknowledge no one as a friend, Do not raise up yourself / intimate companions, For nothing is to be gained from them.

When you lie down at night, let your own heart be watchful over you, For no man has any to defend him on the day of anguish. I was generous to the pauper, I sustained the orphan, I caused him who had nothing to become at length like a man of means. But it was one who ate my bread who conspired (against me), One to whom I had given my support devised dread deeds thereby, Those clad in my fine linen behaved toward me like worthless lotus, And those anointed with my myrrh made my way slippery before me (poured water under me).

Oh you my living images, you who share mortality with me, Make mourning for me, mourning such as has never been heard, For the burden of (that) struggle was such as had never been seen. When one fights on the field of struggle with the past forgotten, Excellence is of no avail to him who knows not what he should know.

It was after supper, when darkness had fallen, And I had decided to take an hour of relaxation; I was lying on my bed, for I was tired, And I started / to drift off to sleep.

Weapons (intended for) my protection were raised against me, While I acted like a snake of the desert. I woke up to the fighting, pulled myself together, And found that it was a skirmish of the palace guard.

If I could have quickly taken weapons in my hand, I would have made the cowards retreat in turmoil. But no one is strong at night, and none can fight by himself; No successful result can come about without an ally.

/ And so ruin occurred while I was without you, When the courtiers had not yet heard that I would hand over (the throne) to you, When I had not yet sat down with you so as to confirm your succession; For I was not ready for it, I did not expect it; My heart had not conceived of indolence of the part of the servants.

Had women ever organized the troops? Are revolutionaries ever educated right within the palace? Is the flood let loose so that it may destroy the land? Are people ruined through their own actions? Misfortune had never come near to me since my birth, And there has never arisen one equal to me in doing deeds of valour.

/ I subdued (the land) as far as Yebu, And turned my course back to the Delta. I stood on the borders of the land and perused its interior; I fulfilled the supremacy of power by the manifestation of my might.

I was one who increased therein, (For I was) favoured by Nepri; Hapy gave me honor on every field, So that none hungered during my years, / none thirsted therein. Men took their ease through what I had done And recounted legends about me, For I ordered everything in its proper place.

Amenemhet I poem goes on in the same style, around 7 more paragraphs.

Since nothing seems to have been investigated, other than the accepted poem, one must wonder if his own son had anything to do with Amenemhet I murder.

The Lynx God of Ancient Egypt

Since I was writing and reading about the critical endangered Iberian Lynx, I thought I recognized some things, which you might find interesting too.
A lot of people do not know to many of the ancient Egyptian Gods and Goddess, probably because there are so many, and only a few which professors and scholars speak about.

In E.A. Wallis Budge's book 'The Gods of the Egyptians Vol II' page 363
"The Lynx god of ancient Egypt was called Maftet.
This cat played an interesting part in the Egyptian mythology. The animal is like a large cat and has a small patch of hair on the tip of each ear. In the pyramid texts of Unas (line 548) allusions is made to its attack upon the serpents An-ta-f and Tcheser-tep. And it was evident that the Lynx god was a friend of the deceased.
In the Theban Recension of the book of the dead, Maftet takes part with the gods, including Serquet (the Scorpion goddess) and Maat (Goddess of Justice of balance), in overthrowing the fiend Apep (chaps. xxxiv,,xxxix,,cxlix.) We can therefore assume that the Lynx was a destroyer of serpents, and that the Lynx god was supposed to ward of the attacks of serpents from the dead.
Note: It is very evident that the creature seen killing the enemy from the darkness looked more fierce than a normal house cat.
The Theban Recension book of the dead is actually very interesting. If I had to explain this quickly (in short) then I would say, that this book is made by the ancient Amun priests, and it is actually a opposite belief system than the Pyramid text, which is the oldest religion (the belief of the stars) where the book of the dead, was the new priests (new back then) changed the older system to fit their ego's. Here Osiris and Amun and Ra becomes all important, and the older gods and goddess are placed on a second shelf. - this was just very short. This book of the dead and others, rarely mentiones the ancient stellar gods and goddess (the stars/constellation). Apep is Apophis (the evil snake of darkness)"

In E.A. Wallis Budge's book 'The Gods of the Egyptians Vol I' page 324
"In the chapter xxxixth. the deceased says;
Get thee back, Fiend, before the darts of his beams. Ra hath overthrown thy words, the gods have turned thy face backwards, the Lynx Maftet, hath torn open thy breast, the Scorpion goddess, hath cats fetters upon thee, and Maat hath sent forth thy destruction..
The fact that Maftet (the Lynx) was mentioned in Unas' burial text, a pharaoh (king) of the pyramid days, clearly gives a indication of how old this god was in Egyptian mythology."

Another thing to notice, is how Maftet is aided by the Scorpion goddess and the goddess Maat.
These ancient texts speak about a story of the Sun, how Ra the Sun, would travel across the sky. It is said that Ra would take the form of a Lynx and rip open the evil snake Apep.
This opens up to the idea that it is not just a normal cat portrayed in the tomb, as killing Apep, but actually the Lynx god.

Names of The Decans

Ancient astronomy was a deeply integrated part of the ancient Egyptian religion. Actually ancient astronomy was the first religion ever believed in.

I one day made a promise, and here is the fulfilment of that promise :) - The Decans and their names (Greek version).

You gaze at them at night, they have been beside you always. Their wonders go beyond human comprehension, and the knowledge of them, is a mystery unknown to modern man. The 36 Decans are stars, to be exact 36 stars, which were important for the ancient Egyptian.
They are the birth stone of Ancient Astronomy in the land of Egypt.

What are the 36 Decans?

The 36 Decans, also known as 36 stars (the weekly stars), and they are an essential part of the ancient Egyptian mindset, they are key players in the passing of the soul, which is proven by the images found in the tombs. The best way to classify them, would be as gods and goddess. Those beings that have No choice but to follow a higher force. This is not something that I make up my dear friend, I do not know why no one really speaks more about it, their knowledge do go beyond anything we've ever seen or heard of. Some people are baffled by the Pyramids, but the words written on the walls should also baffle people, yet not so many really know what is says on the walls. Let me be the first to tell you, firstly they speak to the heart of the people, what we today would call politics, compromises, the reason for such building/temple to be built, and so on. But as you move inside the temple/building, do walk slow, and do think, if you are ever there (in any temple). You will walk from the light of day into chambers of darkness, be not frighten for this darkness contains no monsters, except if your soul is filled with sin. But even a sinner may walk this path, if they have a regretting heart. With out you knowing it, many of these Decans are watching you as you walk into their domain. The Mysterious False Door in the Cairo Museum

I am not sure if I find things, or if I am drawn to things, making it them, that find me?

Second time I was in Egypt, I visited the Cairo museum, the biggest museum in the world (according to my thoughts) :) There are so many things there from the ancient world, that it would take months to see them all. I had my camera with me and was actually running out of film, when my eyes suddenly caught something, which was placed on a lower shelf (beneath knee height) some meters away. I quickly walked towards it, I could see that it was a false door. A false door is something the ancient Egyptian would use in their tombs, the purpose of these false doors is for the Ba of the deceased (Ba, a kind of spirit being). what stunned me the most about it, was the writing upon the false door, which did not look like the ancient Egyptians at all. I recognized the alphabet immediately, because I had just been working with this alphabet. As I was studying my fathers roots, I quickly read about their language and alphabet - Tamazight, which comes very close to the writing upon the false door above (again a personal opinion), if not identical.

Whales in ancient Egypt

This post actually belongs to the blog History of astrology, and yet it is probably best placed here, because it is about ancient Egypt. In the last two blog posts on my astro-blog, I was looking closer at the constellation known as Cetus, also known as the whale (whale fish). I did some further research on whales themselves, to see their ancient history, where I came across something rather interesting.

I have said a couple of times before, when you walk around in Egypt, you are actually walking on a ancient Sea bottom. This is a fascinating thought, so off course there must exist ancient fossils of some kind.
I was looking through the Whales history, when I came to the mysterious creature known as Basilosaurus also known as the King Lizard. This whale lived around 40 million years ago, and it is the ancestor of most baleen whales of today (as fare as I can conclude). another interesting fact about this creature, the Basilosaurus, descends from a land animal. This means that many million years ago this animal walked on land, and little by little it walked into the water, staying longer in the water each time. One day, today, this animal has become the great Blue whale, the biggest animal on earth.
In ancient days people would actually believe these creatures to be some sort of reptilian sea monster, which could have given birth to some very scary stories in mans beginning, when ever that was? (actually there are more evidence of man being around before some of the continents separated).
Back at the beginning of the 19 century an expedition went to the area known as Faiyum in Egypt, where they discovered ancient fossils of different creatures. This place was depth the Valley of the Whales, because there were so many skeletons, like an ancient grave site. There was found 250 Basilosaurus skeletons, and some of them seem to have interesting 'extra' parts.
When I visited Faiyum, , I went there to see one specific pyramid. In retrospect I find it rather interesting that a pyramid is build near this fossil area. And I could defiantly see how some people would create stories with great sea monsters, one must wonder what the ancient people thought when they saw such giant bones. Even more interesting is the fact that there is no real reproduction of such whales in the ancient Egyptian archive (of what has been found and to my knowledge). I do not believe that they did not know about these skeletons, this would be impossible, due to the fact that they worked and lived there. So why wasn't these animals depicted, could it be because they did not exist anymore? (extinct).

Rameses II Heb-Sed festival scene

As I walked alone, I was suddenly ripped from my dream like state back into reality, by the so familiar Heb-Sed festival scene. I thought it looked so beautifully, the rounded curves made it look smooth like. I wanted to know more.

Or should I say, that this is a picture of one of the Heb-sed festival scenes.
As I have come to find, these scenes are actually portrayed many places, but also different in looks. Again drawing away from the theory of the Heb-sed festival being a 30 year celebration.
For me it seems more like a ritual displaying the pharaoh uniting the Upper and Lower part of Egypt, another way of proclaiming his right as a pharaoh. I think this because; In this ritual Ramesses II is wearing the Red crown of Lower Egypt, and in an earlier post about Thutmose III Hed sed festival scene, he is wearing the white crown Upper Egypt. I have found many scenes where they are wearing different crows and running with different sacred objects in their hands, it might be something completely different, than the uniting of the land. No matter what it is an interesting ritual scene, and was clearly very important in ancient days.
As you so easily can see upon the picture above, this is the pharaoh Ramesses II Heb Sed festival.
He is Not the pharaoh mentioned in the Bible, and it is proven by real facts. One such fact is that the pharaoh in the bible tries to follow the Jews across the river, which Moses (with the ancient knowledge) split open so that they could flee. The pharaoh ordered his soldiers after them, and the sea swallowed them up. If the Pharaoh Ramesses II was lost at sea or was killed by such, he would hardly be on display in Cairo museum, and if it was him, then he was a very old man when chasing the Jews, hardly likely. Then there is the timeline, this fare from adds up. But because Ramesses II was the great king he was, the name Ramesses became a very loved name, and many pharaohs would be called that.

The Broken stone of Senusret I 1971 - 1926 B.C.

So many years have pasted since the glory days of these great ancient civilization, and many things still lie in great ruins. Inside and around each temple, so many objects are still lying around waiting for their placement in the ancient hierarchy. This is one of such engraved stones which is waiting.

Again I notice the artistically difference upon different rocks, especially around the so-called Greek temples. It is so easy to see, that once there stood buildings of much older dates.
This object grabbed my attention because it looked much older than the Greek period, and the Horus name, which I have never seen a Greek pharaoh have. Furthermore it was a Granite stone, again I haven't seen such beautiful work on Granite, from the Greeks period.

What can be seen on this engraving is a goddess praising a Horus name of an pharaoh. The Horus name is normal written inside a square called a Serekh (which you can see in the image, with the glow around it). This is probably one of the most ancient of ways to write the pharaohs name, besides this they also have another name written in a cartouche. Well back to this piece.
I looked in all of my books, and I could only find one pharaoh with this Horus name. This pharaoh is known under the name Senusret I, a pharaoh from the 12 Dynasty (which was between 1971 - 1926 B.C. - almost 2000 years before Christ).

I could not identify one of the characters in his name (see red ink on the image above), but I still suspect it to be him, both because of how they easily could change their names (sometimes just some characters in their name), and also because of the quality of the engravings, and then again, on Granite.
The 12 Dynasty is known for its magnificent artistically heights, both the literature and the artefacts of this time period, are truly beautiful.
I think the Goddess in the relief, could be the Lion Goddess Sekhmet or maybe some older version of the Goddess Hathor (Herher).

Full Moon in ancient Egypt

Behold the Eye of the Night, as one eye is closed another opens its heavenly light and gives light among the darkness. She is the companion of his majesty the Sun, they are the true Romeo and Juliet, never being able to reach each other, the divine power has ruled it so. Like a ghostly figure she is forever doomed to be an earthly slave, the second place in our galaxy.

The picture above is said to be, The Udjat or Full Moon containing its 14 days.

Besides a sketch of the above picture, this was written:
I am washed. I am washed. I am washed. I am washed. My purity(?) is the purity of the great BENU which is in Hensu. For I am that Nose of the Lord of the Winds (Thoth), who maketh all mankind to live, on the day of the filling of the UDJAT (Full Moon) in Annu in the second month of the season of PERT, the last day [In the presence of the Lord of this land]. I have seen the fullness of the UDJAT (Full Moon) in Annu. Evil shall not happen to me in this land, in the Hall of MATTI, because I know the Names of these gods who are therein [who are the followers of the Great God].

I located This engraving upon a temple ceiling, I almost broke my back trying to hold the camera still in a bent backwards position. I could not see all the details in the picture, only when I got home and saw the picture in full. When I got to look at the picture at home I noticed something. In the Eye-ball itself, it looks as if there is a small body of some sort, most probably a young boy with his finger in his mouth (A very famous scene of ancient days). I have made some close ups of the eye itself, as you can see. Actually it also looks as if a goat like creature is coming riding into the picture, from the below corner where the Anubis creatures stand.

On the engraving is a big ball with an Eye and 14 small bodies in it, are placed on a boat. In the boat some of the Gods and Goddess are seen, the preserved side is where you see the rudders, it Looks like either Ra or Ra-Herakhty (in his Falcon headed form) standing in front of the ball (probably representing the Full Moon itself).

The Moon traveling over the dark blue celestial water abyss, protected by Gods and Goddess, who will fight the battle to return yet another day. Like keeping time a float.

The Book of the Dead

What is the Book of the Dead? Was it a story or something like a testement? It is one of the most important works of ancient Egypt, dating back over 2000 years.

It is a collection of chapters, found on tomb walls and on papyrus (paper made by a plant called the Papyrus plant). Actually it is a misleading name in some sense, for it is more about life, than the death of a person. The papyrus scrolls found in tombs and elsewhere, tend to have the Judgment scene as we now know so well, and the negative confession of the deceased. The papyrus scrolls which I have seen, I actually would call some sort of book of the dead (as Egyptologist have chosen to call it), because it shows scenes such as the funeral procession, and the burial rituals. You see the things brought inside the tomb and the mourners as they come walking behind the coffin (sarcophagus) crying their hearts out and making a noise in despair.
It is probably the first known guide book to be published on paper/papyrus.
Each section of text is usually called a spell, and are from many different places. Oddly enough, there haven't been found a scroll or wall which contains all the spells in one place (at least not to my knowledge), they seem to be scattered around. They also seem to be copies of some older texts, which haven't been found either.
In more modern times it has been depth 'book/spells of coming (or going) forth by day', which is exactly what it is. The book guides the soul/spirit in coming forth and going through the hard passage of 'death' which will transform the spirit/soul and make it free of its earthly bonds. Some thought that they would reincarnate into a new world which was like the world they just left, others believed that their soul/spirit would travel up among the stars.

So it is not just a story and it is not just a testament, but an actually guide book for the body and the soul of the deceased.

Thutmose III Heb-Sed festival stele - CASE STUDY

Dendera temple is said to belong to the Greek period of the Egyptian time line, more precisely to the Ptolemy period (331 BC - 30AD).
When I visited Dendera temple the last time, I took some pictures out side the temple. I remember that I was struck by a deep fascination, when I took notice of some object which had unusually beautiful engravings upon them, not matching the Ptolemy artist style. I clearly remember telling myself that this was not the art of the Greeks, then I thought it looks like the time of Queen Hatshepsut (1500-1400 BC), the style they used in her days.

Heb-Sed Festival

I was lucky to have had a course where the Egyptology teacher spoke with deep passion about the Heb-Sed festival which the ancient pharaohs would perform. In that case the teacher was speaking about the pharaoh Djoser, namely from the pyramid time period. I was deeply fascinated, I don't really know why. When I then visited Egypt last, I saw this scene in every temple I visited, except a few (but I would probably guess that they were there, I just didn't find them). I took pictures of all that I saw, and funny enough, again I don't know why. The reason why I wonder why this interested me, is because I am mostly fascinated by their beliefs and religion as we call it today, not that much about pharaohs.
But maybe it was the fascination of a religious ritual, which I found to be like a standard scene of some sort.
The scene is called Heb-Sed or just the Sed festival, and it was a very important ritual which we only see preformed by the pharaohs. One could call it a ritual which determent if the pharaoh was fit to rule and ruled with justice (Matt). No one knows where this ritual descends from or when it began to be practiced, but even other pharaohs/kings coming from different cultures, seem to have been depicting the same ritual scene. It was a huge festival in ancient days, probably one of the only times where the normal people got to see the pharaoh perform a sacred ritual.
It is said that the Heb-sed festival was held every 30 years in a pharaohs reign, which lead some to suspect that a pharaoh would only have one, if any at all. But most pharaohs have had this scene made for them on countless temple walls, and many of these pharaohs were a long way from a reign of 30 or more years, so could it be possible that it is not a 30 year celebration?
It is the Jackal god called Wepwawet that is thought to be connected to the Heb-Sed festival. Actually there is an ancient god called Sed, and it is him that the festival is dedicated too. The actually meaning of the god Sed, seems to be lost, the only thing known about Sed is that he was also associated with the goddess Matt, being a champion of Justice. even in ancient days the Egyptian would change his attributes and they ended up with Wepwawet, who is also an ancient god. When the Egyptian reign came near its end, the Wapwawet worship was centered around a city the Greeks called Lykopolis or Wolf city, and by Arabic it is known as Asyut.
The pharaoh gave offerings to a goddess called Sechat-Hor, a mythological cow that provided milk (drink of immortality) to Horus. The next stage was that the nobles gathering together in front of the pharaoh, and rededicate their ligancy to him. Here after the pharaoh would run in the holy Sed court, he would do so carrying different sacred objects. At some point in the ritual the priests would led the pharaoh to a curtain place where the pharaoh was given the two crowns of Egypt, renewing the crowning ritual.

The Anubis Sphinx

As I was walking towards the entrance, the temple revealed its magnificent structure before my eyes. I was captivated by the Pylons and the time that had past by. I will never know if it was the wind or a subtle voice from within, that made me turn my head, but I did. There stood an Anubis sphinx, which I had never seen before. I have been many times to these ancient parts, and never had I seen this statue before. As I was walking towards the tourist entrance, I could not see any statue, everything blended together in a light sand colour. But walking into the temple area and turning my head, I was suddenly surprised by a beautiful statue of Anubis upon his shrine.

The Winter Triangle

Not everyone knows about the winter triangle, but it has been recognized since before our ancestors time. Three points in the deep heavens, that connects three stars.

Because one of my obsessions is the religion of ancient Egypt, I find these three points very interesting. I also feel like it is a defiantly proof of the supreme knowledge that the ancient people had. And it seems rather tragic comedy-like, that these things exist before our eyes, but we have forgotten about it.

The three points that make up the winter triangle are,
The famous Sirius, and the star Betelgeuse, and last but not least the star Procyon. Furthermore each of these stars are located in three different constellations, hereby also connecting three big constellations to each other.

• Sirius,
is located in the nose of the great dog constellation, which is also known as Canis Major.

• Betelgeuse,
is the star that marks the shoulder of the great hunter Orion.

• Procyon,
is the heart of the constellation Canis Minor, also known as the Lesser dog.

These three stars and constellations have a direct link to the ancient Egyptian belief system. Orion and Sirius are identified in the oldest document surviving from this culture, namely known as the Pyramid texts.

The location of these three constellations, is even more interesting.
• The ancient people believed that Sirius was the Queen of 36 stars known as the Decan's, she was also known under the name of 'year'. And when she rose over the life giving Nile, she would mark the beginning of a New Year (the same as our New Years eve).

• Orion was seen as the husband of Sirius, and he was one of the 36 stars under her, Orion was known as 'Sah' in those ancient days.

Considering that Sirius and Orion was seen as husband and wife, makes the location of these two constellation even more interesting.
The winter triangle is located in our galaxy's most beautiful place, across the milky way.
One star is located on one side of the milky way, and the two other stars are placed on the other side. It is Sirius and Orion that are placed besides each other on one side of the Milky way, husband and wife.

The last star of the winter triangle, Procyon, is a little bit harder to place.

The book The Secret of Anubis, The Winter Triangle follows a logical path, both through ancient texts, as well as images and illustrations through our history. Hippopotamus Goddesses

She was one of the Great Ones, her motherly nature was touched by Nut and Mutt, the great mother goddesses. The hippopotamus goddess was seen as a 'Mother goddess' with a protective power. Yet she is portrayed with a mix of deadly animals, which create a horror looking creature. The Hippopotamus was widely known in ancient days, again and like all other gods and goddess, it had two sides to its nature, the protective, and the destructive. Many things about ancient Egyptian mythology and beliefs (probably one and the same thing back then) are still being debated. Some subjects are just left alone, or only studied by the very few. But one debate is (among some) that are the goddess the same just with different names and portrayed differently? Or are there more than one goddess? In this post we will take a very short look at two of these ancient hippopotamus goddess.

Ipet (Apet/Opet); She was a very ancient primal goddess. Sometimes her name is found with Mutt's and Nut's name, connecting them and their natures. She is also believed to be the Star Draconis, which connects her to the afterlife - the soul's journey.

Reret; means 'sow' she was also known as Reret-weret, which means the Great Sow. She is in this form a representation of the constellation called 'Isis' and this constellation seem to be our day Draco. In ancient days around 2500 B.C the pole-star was known as Thuban, and this star lies inside Draco.

Bastet, the great Lady of the East

A huge shadow suddenly jumps before me, I am so chocked that I take a step back. My heart begins to beat harder and faster as I see it walking slowly towards me. A long tail makes sudden movement, as if it was a snake ready to strike. Covered in fear I look around to see if I can escape, I cannot… Is it a Tiger, is it a Lion? Questions and fear is making my body shake but unable to move… I stand as the shadow comes ever so close, and I hold my breath, as if the breath would take me away from reality… Suddenly a little cat jumps out from behind a wall, wiggling its tail and body up the wall. Kindly it comes nearer, and away went my fear. Such a beauty of strength and grace, that is truly Bastet.

She was the foremost goddess of the eastern part of the Delta, and both she and her city are very old. Bastet was original a lioness goddess but people changed her look and she became depicted as a woman with a cat's head. She had her own city/nome, which is mentioned in the bible, this city was called Bubastis. She is mentioned in many ancient texts, she was the daughter of Ra the Sun god. According to some old legends, Bastet was the personification of the soul of Isis.
In different cities/nomes Bastet's mythology changes, such as we find in Thebes (Luxor) where Bastet was identified with the goddess Mutt. In Dendera she was seen as the female counter part of Tem (In this city she was known under the name of Tem-t).
As the daughter of Ra she became the 'eye of Ra' but she was also connected to the Moon, where she was referred to as the 'eye of the Moon'. She would protect her father in his soul journey, and therefore Bastet were the protector of all who passed. She would fight the great enemy Apophis, a hideous snake that was on the soul's journey. She is said to be as fears as Sekhmet. Later on this cat goddess would become a symbol of motherhood, and a protective motherly nature.
In ancient Greece Bastet would be the parallel of the goddess Artemis.
She was seen as the heat of the Sun, a goddess of fire.
The reincarnation of the goddess had special marks, a curtain look, so did the reincarnation of the cat goddess Bastet. When they found the cat with those special markings, they would take it to a special temple, the temple of Neith at Sais.

The Mummy, the movie - Fact or fiction?

The movie has taken a lot of people upon a journey into ancient Egypt, or did it? Was there really an evil priest named Imhotep, and did he go against the Pharaoh (king)? These are some of the topics taken up in this short blog post.

Hamunaptra, is it real or isn't it?

Actually in the movie Hamunaptra was said to symbolize the "city of the Dead," but the ancient Egyptian 'city of the Dead' is mostly referred to as the 'Valley of the kings and Queens.' But this part of the movie is a kind of fiction, because it is said that a city in India was named Hamunaptra. In the movie the city of the dead, could not be seen, only on specific times. There could be some truth to this, because desert sand and its environment is able to fool the eyes, and building in the colors that they did, this could be possible or seem like it. The Valley of the Kings and Queens, was hidden, but since it has always had some tombs opened/found, it has always been known about.

Did Imhotep exist?

Yes Imhotep existed, but we have to go back to the ancient Pyramid builders, before we find him. He was a loyal and dear friend of the Pharaoh (king).

Does the Anubis army exist?

In the Second Mummy movie, where the Scorpion king made a deal with the god Anubis, in exchanged for the king soul, Anubis would grant endless power.
In the real historical records, there is a hint of something a like.
While walking in Karnak temple one day, I stumbled upon an interesting relief. A lot of Anubis characters walking in straight line, like in a march, and on the opposite side were a straight line of Horus/Ra gods. In ancient Egyptian mythology it was probably likely that they believed they could call his power forth, and that all the gods and goddess could aid him, in the same form as Anubis.

The treasure chambers?

Oh yes the land of ancient Egypt is filled with treasures, still to this day, why do you think some people have 'patent' on it ;)

Most of the movies are fiction in some sense, yet it is well mixed with real people from ancient Egypt, but they are not portrayed in the correct manner.

What a Human consist off

The complexity of ancient Egyptian knowledge is clear to see, when reading their old texts. Just to study how they believed in seven 'spirits/sides' to a human, one must be in awe of them. A perfect harmony to all the gods and goddess and the Universal Lord, each as important as the other.
What is Age?
When we do not fully understand the concept of time?
• KA = (Double) Spirit guide, The higher self of a human, a spiritual energy.

• BA = Can best be referred to as the astral body, the soul of the body, and it could move.

• KHAT = the physical body, the corpse.

• KHAIBIT = A person's shadow. The negative aspects of the personality.

• AB = the heart of a person, the Essen's of that being.

• AKH = The shining spirit. The perfect Ba, like a flower that grew from a seed, so does the Akh grow from the Ba.

• SAHU = The divine body, that the Akh lives in.

• REN = The name of a person.

Personal Note:
To this list must be added the fact, that each is not that easy to explain. And each is mentioned many times in ancient texts, but sometimes referred to differently. In some places it would seem that the Ba is not just a 'soul' but was also material in some manner, acting much like a ghost.
In some myths, humans were formed by the water that flowed from Ra's eyes, when he wept. They fell upon earths dust and as Ra had a Ba, so did he create each human with the same, a Ba.
Another word that might need some more studying is the word 'Sahu', which in some cases refers to a group of beings, in some texts these groups worked on the mental and spiritual level. And in the above list, we find it speaking about a divine body, which the akh lives in. We now have more questions than answers. The divine body could refer to a giant being, maybe even the universe as a great living organism, and containing many and different akh's? There can be made many theories surrounding these words, but they did not think of life or mankind as being simple.

The Two Eyes, the Sun and the Moon

One is the day boat, travelling with the Sun as it gives us the 12 hours of Light. The other one is the night boat, which holds the key of the Moon's heart, and it guides us through the time of darkness, until the Sun crosses again.

Many people have the idea that the ancient Egyptians believed in Ra as a sole god, which could not be further from the truth. Ra is one among many gods and goddess, but indeed he is the First Lord of our Earth.
The Two Eyes of (Ra) is made up by the Sun and Moon, one sees all at day and one sees all at night. Each they had a boat sailing in the celestial waters, in the day hours and in the night hours.

The Moon was called Aah or the Wadjet /(Udjat) Eye.
The Moon-god appears as a man in the archaic form of Ptah, Min, Osiris and many more. On his head is the young moon with the old one in his arms. He wears the lock a hair of youth, and a cobra above his forehead etc. The boat he sailed in was called the 'Boat of a million years'. It brought back the Udjat Eye.

One Creation Myth from Ancient Egypt

One known creation theory that survives from the ancient day of Egypt is about Ra and the two eyes. This story is furthermore interesting, because it gives the idea that Ra might not be the Sun – Ra himself said this "I became from one god, three gods."
From the great dark blue water of the celestial abyss, Ra existed there before anything else. Alone he floated around the great celestial sea, before he thought about creation and willed his own physical existence. From his spit came the creation of Shu who became the god of air, and Tefnut, who became the goddess of mist. As Ra was blind in the celestial sea, he created an eye 'the power of vision/to see.' He sent this eye forth to seek his two children, who also floated in the celestial sea. When the eye returned, it saw that Ra had replaced it with another eye, and the (first) eye became very angry. Ra had to make peace/balance, he gave the first eye more power than the second eye. But now Ra had two eyes, he therefore made one eye the eye of the Sun, and the other eye the eye of the moon.
Later on in ancient Egypt, Horus and Ra became more entangled, and other myths came out of this association, such as the Eye of Horus.
All of Seth's aggression was placed upon this eye during his battle with his nephew Horus. "When the Red god (Seth), using his magical powers of deception, had captured the eye, he threw it into the darkness beyond the edge of the world. Thoth, who had been watching the fight and who was the guardian of the Moon, observed where it fell and went to fetch it. When Thoth found the eye, it was in pieces, but he located them all and put them together to form a full Moon and thereby restored the night light." This eye was called the Wadjet and ancient Egyptians could take the eye apart into its pieces.

The Anubis Object, a Mystical object

A most curious object was found in Tut-ankh-amon's tomb, actually two objects were found. Some call them strange others think that they have an idea of what they might be. -also known as the imiut (/Ami-ut) fetish.
The two mysterious objects that were made by gold, and stood in the western part of the corridor of Tut-ankh-amun's tomb, have been speculated over for many years. These objects are also to be found on the walls of ancient Egypt, both in the tombs and upon the temple walls but also in papyrus scrolls.

It is said to be a pied headless bull's stuffed skin fastened to a bare pole, which stands upright in a pot, the bulls tail is rapped around the pole. And that it was Anubis who performed ceremonies with it, dating back to the old kingdom.

Notably is the fact that this object seem to belong to the ceremonies of Osiris; It is often shown near the sitting Osiris, but furthermore is the fact that Osiris was connected to the Bull. Some suspect this skin to belong to the ‘Mnevis’ bull, the bull of Heliopolis. The bull skin on the pole is believed to represent the Mother cow that produced the 'Mnevis' cow, also known as the Hesat cow. The Mnevis bull had special markings/characteristics, and was associated with Ra - The Sun God.
Personal Note:
Since almost every gods or goddess scene in ancient Egypt has a religious ceremony behind it, we can pretty easily conclude that it is a ritual object of some sort. The precise function seems to be unknown, but further translation of the reliefs might give some hints.
I have always thought that the scene looked a lot like a 'halal' butchering (A Muslim tradition that cut's the meat in a cleaner fashion), this does not mean that I am right, I just thought of that as the first thing, when I saw the scenes. It is clearly to see upon the Papyrus of Anhai and the papyrus of Ani, that blood is dripping from the neck. I am not sure if they really did such a thing or if this is a spiritual representation /only drawn.
But I do not think that they did this to the mother of a chosen bull, it would make no sense with the whole balance theme.

Urt-Hekau, the goddess of magical spells - UPDATED 19. december - 2009

There she stood before me, like she had guided me to her. I stood in awe as I looked upon her magical being. Who was she, for what reason did she exist? Of all the beings that I had seen, never had my eyes seen her before, and yet there she was.
Urt-Hekau is her name. She is an ancient goddess, so much so that even the old Egyptians called her ancient. She belongs to the road of the Underworld, the dark land between Earth and heaven. Who is she, seems as mysterious as the pyramid creation itself, what was her purpose, no one knows for curtain. But no matter what we understand or lack to understand in our modern world, she is clearly important. And the lack of knowledge about her is probably further proof of her importance. I say this because the most holy of holiness has always been 'hidden'/ the least written about especially in our modern books.

Her name contains the word of Magic itself [Heka], and the Cobra was a symbol of power.
Personal note…
Right now I am thinking about Isis when she tricked Ra into giving her, his real name. In this mythological story she poisons him, with something he doesn’t even know. When Isis did this towards Ra, she was a kind of embodiment of magic itself. At further observation, I find it rather odd that Ra could not heal himself from her poison, if she is a smaller god than him. Maybe she was more or less equal to him in the heavenly sense. By this I mean, Ra is the Sun, so if she is a star then this would make more sense, as the stars are both equal and more than our Sun. The Sun is mostly important to our environment/life force here upon earth. But the stars in general are as important and as great, just in ways we have still to figure out.

UPDATED 19. december - 2009
Since I am home in Denmark now, I can look in all of my books, which might give a further explanation of her. She is a most mysterious goddess, and it would seem that not much is known about her. The passages where her name has been found, leads us to a little more knowledge about her.
From Budge 'Gods of ancient Egypt Vol I'.
It states that Urt-Hekau is the 'protective power of the Eye of Horus.'
Directly connecting her to the mythology stories known as the 'Eye-myths'.

From Budge Gods of ancient Egypt Vol II .
It has a short passages from the text of Pepi I (line 100 ff.)
“Hail, Nut in whose head appear the Two Eyes (i.e., Sun and Moon), thou hast taken possession of Horus and art his Urt-hekau (i.e., mighty one of words of power), thou hast taken possession of Set and art his Urt-hekau.” - This passage gives us further clues; Earlier I told you that her name contained the word for magic ‘Heka’ but rather interestingly this word ‘Heka’ contains yet another word ‘Ka.’ Now the Ka is very important in ancient Egypt, we can best translate this word for the soul. There is also something known as the ‘kau-spirits.’

It also has yet another interesting note when we read about the goddess Nephthys; That Nephthys possessed magical powers like Isis, and Urt-Hekau, ‘Mighty one of words of powers’ was as much a title for this goddess as of her husband, Set-Nubti.

Urt-Hekau is also known as a lioness goddess.

Dér stod hun foran mig, det var som om at hun havde guidede mig dertil. Jeg stod i fuldkommen forbavselse af hendes magiske tilstedeværelse. Hvem var hun, hvad var grunden til hendes eksistens? Af alle de væsner jeg havde set, så havde mine øjne aldrig faldet på hende før, og alligevel var hun lige der.

Urt-Hekau er hendes navn. Hun er en meget gammel gudinde, så gammel at selv de gamle Ægypter kaldte hende gammel. Hun tilhører vejen til underverden, det mørke land imellem Jorden og himlen. Hvem hun er, virker næsten ligeså mystisk som de gamle pyramiders kreation gør. Grunden til hendes eksistens, er stadig uvis. Men ligegyldigt hvordan vores moderne viden er, eller mangel der af, er hendes eksistens indhyllet af uvished, men klart betydningsfuld. Den manglende viden omkring hende er nok yderlig bevis på hendes vigtige betydning. Dette siger jeg på grund af de gamles allermeste helligheder, som tit forbliver hemmelige, især i de mere moderne bøger.

Hendes navn i sig selv indeholder det gamle ord for Magi [Heka], og kobraen er de gamles symbol for kraftfuld magt.
Personlig note…
Lige nu tænker jeg på hvordan Isis narrede Ra, til at give hende, hans rigtige navn. I denne mytologiske historie forgifter hun(Isis) Ra med en gift han ikke kender til og ikke kan hele sig selv fra. Da Isis gør dette imod Ra er hun et slag væsen af selveste magien. Når jeg studere nærmer, syntes jeg at det er besynderligt at Ra ikke kunne hele ham selv fra denne gift, især hvis hun er en mindre gud en ham. Måske var hun mere på lige fod med Ra i den mere himmelske forstand. Med dette mener jeg; Ra er Solen, hvis Isis er en stjerne ville dette være mere logisk, fordi en stjerne er både på lige fod og mere end vores Sol. Solen er mest vigtig for vores form for livsform/miljø her på jord. Men stjernerne i den mere generelle forstand er ligeså vigtige, bare på måde vi stadig ikke er i stand til at tolke.

Duamutef, one of the founders of Astrology

Behind the many layers of Anubis, lies a truth which cannot be denied. Through his nature we are lead to the magnificent guardians of the Coffin, guardian of the four corners of the Earth. Duamutef which is a fascinating creature of the four guardians is another Jackal but a separate character from Anubis. Duamutef/Tuamute is actually believed to the one of the founders of the Zodiac.

To understand this level of ancient Egyptian knowledge, you must open your mind to symbolism and history written by poets and artist who paint it in wonderful colors. It is a history written in a mysterious way, and only few come close to understanding the complete picture.
When we speak about Duamutef/Tuamutef, we are actually speaking about one of the four sons of Horus; these are the four guardians ‘jars’ which are also referred to as the canopic jars, where the deceased organs were placed in. And when we are speaking of these four blessed ones, we are actually also speaking about the seven divine beings. The four sons of Horus are actually a part of the seven divine beings, where the three are hardly spoken about. As you can see, there is a complex system behind the gods and goddess, but remember these are the heavenly gods, those above the earthly gods. There is no temple dedicated to these gods, yet they are older and more complex than the gods and goddess that are mostly mentioned.
Some believe that the Jackal is actually not a divinity in the manner that we understand it, but is rather a ‘type’ to be even more precise the ‘Judgment type’ below as well as above. This is further proven by the ancient texts, in the different manners we find the jackal character in. In one passage in the book of the dead, the seven divine beings (the sons of Horus) are seen standing behind the Anubis chest. And the text clearly distinguish that one is the Anubis chest, and Duamutef/Tuamutef is standing besides his six divine brothers.
The Four sons of Horus are;
Imsety – South Duamutef – East
Hapy – North Qebesenuef - West
As the four sons (and even souls) of Horus, they were the friends of the deceased, helping in rituals as well as guiders in the ‘passing’.

In my book ‘The secret of Anubis, the winter Triangle’ I make parallels to the ancient Greek world and how they saw the stars. It focuses on the zodiac as it is in the Dendera temple, and shows a clear and visible connection between Egyptian gods and goddess and the universe, a real star map from the ancient’s that shows the beginning of the souls journey among the stars.

They are the keepers of time and the followers of the soul.

One on one with Lady Sekhmet

Please do note, that I am not standing on the ancient monument, but actually behind it.
I would never be so disrespectful.
Every God and goddess of the ancient days, has two sides to their nature. On one hand they were protective, but on the other hand they were also destructive. The Lion-headed goddess Sekhmet was as destructive as the Sun itself, and through his fire she would almost destroy mankind.

She was also known as the Great Lady beloved of Ptah holy one powerful one, Eye of Ra. Sekhmet’s name means ‘powerful’ or ‘the female powerful one’
She was razor sharp like the Sun’s rays, in her most destructive nature she would breathe fire unto mankind.
The hot desert winds were said to be the breath of Sekhmet.

The Destruction of mankind.
She was a vital character in one of the ‘Eye’ myths, known as the destruction of mankind. When Ra became an old man, humans started to plot against him. Ra then sent Sekhmet forth to teach humans a lesson, but Sekhmet became so intoxicated by human blood, that she was unable to stop her rage. It was actually Hathor that was sent out in the form of Sekhmet, to teach mankind a lesson. Ra could not bear to see his child in such a blood rush and he took pity on mankind. But Ra had granted her so much divine power, that not even he could stop her. Ra would have to trick Sekhmet.
He sent a messenger that was as quick as the wind itself, to Elephantine Island in Aswan. The messenger was instructed to bring Ra a very large quantity of the fruit called Mandrake, because its juice was as red as blood. And in large quantities the fruit caused great sleepiness. Over one night this fruit was turned into thick wine that would trick the eye of anyone. Ra had mankind help in spreading the wine every where they could, the task was done shortly before dawn. Sekhmet had been sleeping all night, her ruthless hunts each day made her sleep deeply at night. When she awoke, she was again hungry for a fight and for the taste of the mortal’s blood. As she walked into a field she saw the land bathing in what she thought was blood. She happily thought it was her doing, and she smiled. She bent down to drink of it, and the more she drank the more she wanted. What Sekhmet did not know, was that she was actually drinking the Mandrake fruit that had been mixed with barely (beer). She finally fell into a deep sleep, and her father called a whisper into the air “Come, come in peace, O fair and gracious goddess.” And so did the killing spree end. Ra ruled on, but created a celebration of this event in the city of Amen.

Sekhmet is a very old goddess, she is mentioned in the Pyramid Texts as being the one that conceived the king. She could protect against plagues, as she could cause them, she was also a healing deity. She was the consort of Ptah and the mother of Nefertem.

There are several lioness goddesses in ancient Egyptian mythology. Animals played a key role in their beliefs, very often reflecting both the nature of man and animal. The ancient Egyptians were masters of the duality in nature, and everything they did was meticulous and reflected nature’s perfect duality between man and animal.

ANUBIS of Ancient Egypt

The more you get into the Gods and goddess of ancient Egypt, the more you will realize how complex it really was, and one must acknowledge how complex their religious beliefs were.

The famous Anubis, is much more than our minds today can comprehend. You will find him on temple walls, and in the most ancient text of Egypt namely the pyramid texts (2600 B.C.) He is much older than Osiris, and his ancient (city) Nome is Abydos (read about the temple of time - The temple of a million years)

What precisely Anubis means, has been lost, because of its ancient times. He was the son of many different gods and goddess, as time would come to change, so would the people’s views about who was connected to who.
His connection to Osiris and how fare back this god is can be seen in the ‘judgment scene’ from the book of the dead. He might even have more power than Osiris in this scene, in that Anubis/Duamutef is able to be active and is the ‘weigher’ of hearts, where as Osiris is always seen in a mummified state – immovable.
Some of his titles were:
"Foremost of the Westerners"
"The lord of the scared land"
"He who is upon his scared mountain"
“Ruler of the bows”
“He who is in the place of embalming”
“Foremost of the divine booth”.

He is also thought to be a star (or at least one of his character-like beings is)
Some believed Anubis meant, time.

The Greeks and Roman also chose to portray Anubis.

Input; Is also said to be the female counterpart of Anubis – (She had her own cult in one of the Upper Egyptian nome’s).

Wepwawet (or Ap-uat); (An unusual name if you ask me).
Probably the oldest known Jackal god in ancient Egypt. His name Wapwawet means “Opener of the ways”. (To me this character reminds me a lot of Tuamutef/Duamutef).

Duamutef or Tuamutef; Is one of the heavenly sons of Horus, the heavenly sons of Horus are four together, and with their tree hidden brothers, they make up the Seven divine beings. They are said to live among the stars, as guardians of Osiris.

I have my own personal fascination with this creature, and my own personal journey, I adore him especially in the form of Tuamutef/Duamutef. My book ‘the secret of Anubis, the winter triangle’ is actually about this beautiful animal. He is a separate character from Anubis, and very vital to the Egyptian beliefs system. He was a guide for the soul.

In the start of the book you will get a quick introduction to Anubis, and some of his story from ancient Egypt. As you read on you will take another step into a parallel world of the ancient Greeks, and reveal a very visible connection between the character of Anubis and to that of the constellation of Canis Major, where Sirius is located. Sirius was the queen of the decan’s, and with her the new year would begin. If Canis Major is Anubis the good of the passing, then it would be most duality fitting that his nose would be that of Sirius – as they did not believe in death (that would have been Hell for them) they would be given life again.

The great Pyramid at Giza is more known for its magnificent size and the architectural design and measurements. Even today it stands much greater than any other ancient monument of ancient Egypt, its perfection is still incredible clear. But there are many mysterious sides to the Pyramids, which are hardly mentioned, and here is one.

An interesting fact;
Is about what was found inside the actual great pyramid at Giza.
In 1872 a man named Waynman Dixon were exploring the great pyramid’s queen’s chamber, when he came to discover two shafts, one in the north wall and one in the south wall. The shafts were actually hidden (but only in this chamber), and so he removed the rocks until he came to the shaft ‘canal’.

Dixon found;
• A small piece of a wood staff/rod thing
• A small bronze hook
• A Granite sphere/ball

These items can be found at the British museum -
Also known as the Dixon Relics.
The rod/staff piece which he found, seems to be lost or something? ? Some believe that there could have been preformed Carbon 14 analyses of the wood piece, so they would have a date of the objects (or rather one of the object).
In 1993 the German Engineer Rudolf Gantenbrink investigated the shafts of the Queen’s chamber, with a small video camera which was attached upon a mini robot. One of the pictures showed what you see upon the picture below. Two rod/staff like objects, one was Dixons rod, and the other one looked a lot like the piece of what Dixon had found back in 1872.

It will be interesting to see when these objects are taken out of the shaft, even more interesting would be when the rod/staff like object dates too.

I haven’t heard anything about, what these objects could have been used for. I believe there is some suspicion about the hook and the shafts doors which are still blocked.

Personal note:
When I saw that program on national geographic, where they took the small camera robot as fare as they could and hit a door, I had an interesting thought.
When they made a little hole to see what lay beyond the shaft door, they were met by rock material. I clearly remembered that I thought it was a round thing of some sort, I could see some curves which are mostly found in round surfaces, and for me the material looked a lot like the material of the granite ball that Dixon found.

The mystical sphere of Dr. Ray Brown

All through our history there have been theories about some sort of ancient and supreme knowledge, even a notion of something from the outside (from outer space). Could one of these supreme technologies be illustrated through Dr. Ray Brown’s mystical sphere?

In 1970, he and some other professional divers were diving for sunken treasure from old boats, near the Bahamas islands. They were returning to this specific place, because they had found it interesting back in 1968.
What happen next seems as remarkable as the object itself, and should be told through Dr. Ray Brown’s own words;
It was not me that discovered the ancient underwater city, others we have spoken with, had noticed the ruins many years before. As soon as we arrived to the area a violent storm hit us, so we hid around one of the near by islands, until the storm had past. Even thou we had lost a lot of our equipments, we decided to dive as soon as the storm had passed.
It was very dark in the water. As soon as we came to the area, where we had seen something back in 1968, we saw buildings, even thou it was dark, we could just see the outer lines of buildings. We moved the boat backwards and forwards, and everywhere we looked, there were buildings. We chose a place and dropped the Anker, and in an almost panicky mode, we jumped over board. We were five divers, and I was the last man in. It is a good idea to swim two and two, especially when diving in remote areas. All the time I could see a pair of swimming fins in front of me, and I struggled to keep up with them. Under one try, to catch up with them, I became too exhausted, so I stopped to rest upon a coral reef.
I saw the golden sunlight twinkle through the murky water, and realized that the light came out of a pyramid. I just sat there starring at it, because it could simply not be there, and I wished that it did not disappear. The sunlight came from the backside of the pyramid, which spread the light in each direction with a glittering effect. It was as thou someone had painted this magnificent picture. I thought, ‘If you only had a camera!’ Then I would have been able to capture this moment in time, which was the greatest sight I had ever seen, more beautiful than any sunset which nature had let me see. A Brilliant sight! It had colors and something beautiful about it.
As soon as I came to myself, I realized that what I was looking at was concrete.
It existed. And instead of just sitting on the coral reef watching it, I swam over there.
Only a part of the pyramid was sticking out of the sea bottom. I could see around 90 feet of it, judging by the shape it looked like an Egyptian pyramid, and might be even bigger. The pyramid had a mirror blank surface. It consisted of stone, very polished stones – A remarkable skilled construction. The polished cover stones were placed so close together, that I do not think a raiser blade could fit in between them. We do not understand how people were able to put such beautiful stones together so closely. The stones had sloping edges, they did not fit smoothly together.
I swam around the top of the pyramid. There were heavy waves, so it was dangerous to be near the top, which I rounded for the third time. On the way down I came across an opening. I had not seen this opening before, and I know that I studied the building carefully. I can not explain why the opening wasn’t there before and then suddenly it was there – I am only telling you this as how I remembered it.
My first thought was: Where there is an opening, there must be a door. I again looked very carefully, but I could not find any. There was only the opening, and no door. Nothing that could be opened. Curiosity conquered me, and I swam inside the opening. I passed a hall which was right behind the opening, and then I came to a magnificent room. The room must have been in the top part of the pyramid, when looking at the whole pyramid. The opening was placed half way down the visible part of the pyramid. The room was rectangular with a pyramid shape ceiling. In the ceiling’s top point hang a metallic rod/staff. The rod/staff was around 3 inches thick and looked like gold, but apparently it was a different material than gold. In the middle of the room stood some sort of platform of carved rock, above it was coated with a flat amour like plate with retractable edges. Two natural sizes metal hands were placed upon the plate, they were holding a crystal sphere. The rod/staff that hang from the ceiling was pointed directly at the crystal sphere. A polished sharp red stone was attached at the end of the rod/staff.
There stood seven huge chairs around the platform, one of the chairs were placed a little big higher, it was placed upon its own stone platform. I swam up to the ceiling, and with my feet placed against the ceiling, I tried to pull the rod/staff form its place. I felt very sure that it was gold. The rod/staff would not move an inch. I realized that I needed help to collect this treasure. I knew that the other divers only had half of their oxygen left, and they would probably not dive again. So I decided to take something back with me, so I could show the other divers some proof of what I had seen. I took out my knife and tried to scratch some material of the rod/staff, but it only broke my knife blade. Even thou my knife were of the hardest material – Harden steel. And there was not a mark on the rod/staff! I swam back down towards the chairs and the platform, where I sat down in one of the chairs. They were comfortable to sit in with armrests. After I had rested my thoughts a little bit, I was again drawn to the crystal sphere, which had a radiant bright light coming from it. I looked around the room, to see if anything seemed loose which I could take back with me. Because all the time I was thinking: “Is this real? It is so beautiful, that it might be a dream vision.” I grabbed in between the hands, and the crystal sphere moved. It was loose! I took it with me.
The hands which the crystal sphere was held by had a bronze like color, the palms of the hands were golden like the rod/staff. But they were also black, like it had been burned either by fire or another kind of high energy. I was a little bit scared as I removed the sphere. If it could burn the metal, what then might it do to me? I grabbed it and nothing happened.
I stopped for a second, a moment of peace. And now there was this voice, not polite and very clear. It seemed like the voice came from the building itself, from all sides around me. Like some kind of radio wave, instructing me: “You came and have what you came for. Leave now and never return again”.
When I came back to the surface and the boat, had every one of the divers, had some similar experience. Each had found some artifact and had brought one thing back with them. Some of the artifacts were peculiar looking things, one looking like a calculator with windows, but without the buttons. We never figured out how they worked, or what they might be used for. I have since dived in the Bermuda triangle, but never in this area, and I never wish to go back to this place.

Who was Senenmut?

Hatshepsut’s
most devoted friend at the end of her reign was Senenmut her daughter Neferu-Ra’s teacher. He rose himself from the commoner’s level to be a high official in the ancient world. He was a true genius of the time that he lived in. Some of his knowledge is clearly illustrated in one of his two tombs, where there is the oldest astronomical chart in Egypt.

Who was Senenmut?

While different archeologists were collecting different finds from the 18.dynasty (18.dynasty was between 1570 BC – 1293 BC) they not only came across object from Hatshepsut’s time period, but also another name, which was Senenmut. It was quickly known, that this Senenmut was not a part of the royal family (pharaohs family line), but seem to have come from a commoners family.
This idea was confirmed two times at one place.
In 1930 H.E Winlock opened a monument (also known as TT71) which lies on the hill called ‘Sheikh abd el-Qurna,’ when exactly this monument was discovered or by who, is unknown. It is presumed to have been discovered one hundred years before its opening.
At first glace it seems like a primitive house of some sort, wholes revealing windows and door. Closer inspections of the monument, showed a similarity to Hatshepsut’s Great temple at Deir el-Bahari, but in a much smaller scale. The monument was cut into the cliffs behind it, and a forecourt in front of it. Archeologists could see that the monument was not completed, when the ancient Egyptian worker had stopped working on the site.
While A. Lansing and W. Hayes were excavating in 1936 and researching this monument, they came across a completely intact tomb. It was not a big tomb, only one room, but completely filled with ancient artifacts. Two sarcophagus* were found, one male and one female, it was Senenmut’s parents.
For the first time in over 1400 years, their names would be uttered by the living once more, they were Ramose and Hatnefret.
Senenmut probably felt more affection for his mother than for his father this can be suspected because of the tombs content. First of, it would seem that there was no canopic chest* for his father, but his mothers canopic chest was there. They proceeded to open the sarcophagus of Ramose, Senenmut’s father, but to their surprise it contained the skeleton bones of him instead of a mummified body. The loose bandages around his bones, revealed an ink mark with an inscription “Neferu-Ra” the name of Hatshepsut’s daughter, hereby linking this tomb directly to the family of Hatshepsut. Hatnefret, the mother of Senenmut had a beautiful detailed sarcophagus, and her face was covered by a gold foil. Upon her bandages were found the cursive hieroglyphics inscription;
‘Good Goddess, Maat – Ka- Ra, loved by Amun, may she live forever.’
It would seem that everything in the tomb actually belonged to Senenmut’s mother, Hatnefret.
Not only did they come to find that this monument was built by Senenmut, but also that he had his parents buried beneath it, as a tribute to them.

Tomb TT353, could be called the lost tomb of Senenmut, for it was forgotten about. The tomb was forgotten because it was filled with debris and sand by earlier excavations, and its location had not been noted down. People have found the earlier excavation reports for unsatisfying, not giving any details or even dates for their discovery. No matter what, what is found there is remarkable and unique. A beautiful false-door* with hieroglyphic which fit the time period of Hatshepsut perfectly. Senenmut is shown on the false-door, his father Ramose have his arm around Senenmut, which is interesting considering their tomb content and all. The relief upon the false-door reveals a different relationship between Senenmut and his father, maybe his parents were divorced and had very different lives. But it opens up for the question, as to why such differences in their burial and in their mummifications?
Senenmut’s mother is placed on the other side, facing towards them with a lotus flower in her hand.
This is an important tomb, because not only is it from the time of Hatshepsut, but this is also the location of the oldest detailed astronomical chart ever found. It offers a unique insight, into how they viewed the dark heavens in those days. the decans can be seen in their forms at that time, There are 36 decans, and they are stars. In those days, they were seen as 36 weekly stars. There is also 12 big circles in one half of the images, which corresponds to the half of a day 12 hours. If we count the rooms inside each circle, we come to find that there are 24 rooms, corresponding to the total hours of one day. So this could also indicate that the 24 hours in the 12 circles, are 12 days. Much research has been made into this chart, and to this day, it is not completely deciphered.

Who was Senenmut?

Sen-en-mut, literary means ‘Brother of the mother.’
Best known as Hatshepsut’s chief architect, but also know under the title Steward of the King's Daughter. He came from a modest family, but was able to rise himself to the highest place in ancient Egypt, being an official inside the royal courts.
His image is also to be found seventy times, in one of Hatshepsut’s temples. He illustrated clearly that he possessed the knowledge of many fields, such as astronomy and architecture. Another title of his was ‘Director of the Domain of Amun’ which connects him to the temple of Amun in Karnak.
Personal note:
[That it was Amun that he chose to service is probably a conscious choice. In his time period of around Hatshepsut’s time (1489 B.C) it was the astrological age of the Ram, known in ancient Egypt as Amun (there are three and maybe more forms of Ram’s). Even more interesting is the fact that the ancient Greeks translated Amun as Jupiter. In our modern time we know this ‘combination’ (or the observation of Jupiter) of planets, as the star of Bethlehem (also see Pisces), Jupiter was the planet that the three kings followed. This planet has always been a significant planet, going back to ancient days. We just need to look at the year 1489 B.C where Jupiter was in the sign of Aries, but in this case, being even more precise, because it was also the astrological age of Aries. Not only that, if I am not that mistaken then Jupiter is in conjunction with the Midheaven off course the events surrounding the Jupiter placement in 7 B.C are more significant than that. But then in 7 B.C it wasn’t the astrological age of Aries/the Ram, so they have two huge differences. Just something which I thought was interesting.]
Senenmut came to have many titles, and he must have had a special impact upon Hatshepsut. He might have thought Hatshepsut her trading capabilities, which she used on her trading expedition to Punt.
I don’t know if I believe that they were lovers, because I feel like there was a curtain hermit like behavior over them both. Hatshepsut in her meditations to Amun, and dedication to being a Pharaoh, and then Senenmut deep in trance with his pen, weather it was in calculations or as a teacher for Hatshepsut’s daughter. They must also have been of a modern age, since Hatshepsut had been married twice. Hatshepsut had probably had enough of being a ‘wife’.

Sarcophagus: Also known as the ‘coffin’ where they placed the mummified body in. The word ‘sarcophagus’ is Greek and actually means ‘flesh-eating’. Usually a sarcophagus/coffin is filled with texts, which is referred to as the ‘coffin texts’.

False-door: a door in the tomb, which was to be used by the deceased's soul.

She was her father’s only child by his first wife, hereby making her the royal heir to his throne. But this was a problem for the priests, which based their theories upon a male heir. Her father Tuthmosis I had many wives, and his second wife had a son Tuthmosis II. Hatshepsut became the wife of her younger half brother, together they would rule for 14 years. They did not have a son, which left Tuthmosis II with the same problem as Hatshepsut’s father was left with. Tutmosis II died at a young age, and had chosen his son Tuthmosis III by a second wife, to marriage Hatshepsut. Again to keep everything in accepted orders, Tuthmosis III was still a young boy, which gave Hatshepsut the possibility to rule as she wanted, as long as she pleased the priests.

Hatshepsut was not known for going into war, like other rulers were, but rather for her big trading expedition to Punt. She is also known for her fine monuments, which is of a very high and unique quality. Her monuments are to be found at Luxor temple, and Karnak temple and her great funerary temple at Deir el-bahari and at many other sites.

It is widely known that Hatshepsut had a huge impact upon her father, and brother/husband and her Son/husband. Many scholars believe she manipulated the men around her, when in fact she just did as a queen would do.
Hatshepsut then did the unthinkable, she claimed herself King by help of the gods and the priests. An obelisk that lies down in one of the temples at Karnak, shows the crowning of Hatshepsut in male form. Upon the obelisk, the god Amun declares his appreciation of Hatshepsut as pharaoh.

The unopened tomb

Last time I visited Egypt, as I said earlier, was in the days of my birthday. This next part took place the day after my birthday.

It was the afternoon, me and my mother were sitting in the hotel in Cairo. We could see the pyramids outside beyond the balcony through the mist of our modern day traffic. I doze of into them, feeling that they were so close and yet the traffic mist made them seem much further away. I turned and looked at my mother, she was putting clothe into a beautiful carved cabinet. I asked her if we should go up to the pyramids /Giza Platue, which she off course said yes to.

We started out by looking at the temple which is besides the Sphinx, a truly remarkable temple. Yet another monument which must have been built by a more ancient people with a more modest mind, because there is again no other writing upon this building (which the Egyptians were known for). Another evidence of this building not being the Egyptian work is the perfection which goes beyond anything even to this day. As you can see upon the pictures, they are cut in remarkable ways. This must make one wonder, why choose to do that? It is much easier to build a square like structure (block upon block). There seems to be a conscious choice to carving the rocks in curtain ways, displaying their knowledge in a completely new way to the modest mind. I would call it mathematical, shapes and numbers.
The line in the rocks, are now as important as the hieroglyphic are in temples, but this message goes beyond our modern knowledge.
I will leave this to your own judgment.

We had just finished looking at the ancient temple, and we choose to walk besides the Sphinx and a little bit further on. We were stopped by a man working at the site, he asked if we wanted to see something special. We looked at each other, and we nodded.
We started to follow the man over big rocks going up and down, as we came to a deeper drench, the man turned towards me and said “I have been waiting 1000 years for you” I just smiled. There were three openings in some huge rocks, three tombs. I just sat in front of them looking into the darkness. The man then walked a little bit further on, and told us that there was found yet another tomb which is supposed to be 3000 years old, and was probably a queen.

The Lost Pyramid

I love to study about ancient Egypt, it is remarkable what they knew and how they constructed things. Everything seems to have a much deeper meaning behind it, than what first meets one eye. I celebrated my 32 birthday there, which I am very grateful for.

Here in the summer I read some articles about a pyramid, and how ‘lost’ it had seem to become - so I had to go there. There are only a few things left, but there is something left. Actually I would say that they let me see everything possible to see, right now. I was told that a ‘curtain’ excavation team has planes on investigating this site further, which I hope they do, soon. I do indeed look forward to hearing what they find, because there seems to be something; the elements themselves showed clear evidence of more being there, that was very clear to see. Actually a rather interesting terrain if you ask me.

I am writing some books, where I needed to see if my ideas made any sense. My mother and I stayed at the St. Joseph Hotel, a hotel that I truly like. I like the desert environment - the ‘alone feeling’, everything seems so distant in such an environment. I like to study the hieroglyphics upon the ancient walls, and the images.

The Decans

Let’s just skip into the very depth of ancient Egyptian religion, we grab into the Lords abyss, where we reach out and grab ‘The Decans’.
- Heard of them?

They are stars but much more than that, their complexity is more entangled than their great monuments. Each night you can find them, at each side of everyone, upon this earth. They are only revealed at the most holy of places, at our material death. They are guarded by many demons and other gods, that are all called ‘The Doorkeepers.’ Only in the Valley of the Kings, will you see them in their right light, only there in the deep desert sand, will the stars be revealed on to you.

The ancient Egyptians believed in the Sun, or rather the movement of the Sun and other planets such as our famous Sirius. But they recognized more planets than that. Actually they recognized the exact same essential planets which we so often use in our modern astrology readings.
Some Basic about ancient Egyptians:
They also divided the day-hours much like we still do - 24 hours a day.
RA - The Sun is the Day, and there are 12 light hours of the day.
SETH - The Moon is the night, and there are 12 night/dark hours of the day.

The Decans are the stars that are bound by the five(5) gods birthdays, and together they create the 365 days a year.
One week is made up by 10 days, making a year; 36 x 10 = 360 days;
Then the ancient celebrated 5 Gods birthdays, by giving them a day each;
which makes; 36 decans x 10 days + 5 days = 365 days a year.

The Decans could be seen as 36 weekly stars that the ancient would take notice of. The famous Sirius is the ‘Queen of the Decans’ and she marked the beginning of a new year.
The planets were called ‘The stars that know no rest’ and referred to the five planets;
Mercury – the star of Seth/or a form of Seth.
Venus – star of the morning/ the one who crosses’ or ‘God of the morning’.
Mars – Horus the red/ Horus of the horizon.
Jupiter – Traveling star/ Horus who limits the two lands/ Horus star of the South.
Saturn – Horus the bull/ Bull of the heavens.

This is the Papyrus of Anhai

This is the Papyrus of Anhai who lived between 1100 - 1050 B.C.
She was a member of a college of Amun-Re at Thebes (Luxor).
This was in the period that is called the 19 Dynasty. In the period of 1133 - 1126 B.C both pharaoh Ramesses VII and Ramesses VIII were pharaohs and after them came Ramesses IX (1126 - 1108 B.C). The beautiful Priestess Anhai lived in a time of turmoil, much like many live in today (with the worlds co-called governments actions, so did she live in such a turmoil).

It is said that it is Anubis that is weighing the Heart of the Dead, but I actually believe this characters is really Duamutef, one of the seven sons of Horus (sometimes Osiris sons too). I identify this character to be Duamutef because of his clothing and his blue hair dress, which indicate to be that this is the Heavenly sons of Horus (or Osiris). Anubis is more shown as the Dog (Jackal) lying down, mostly upon a shine. Upon this Papyrus scroll Duamutef (Anubis) is in himself the scales, in that both of his hands connect to the heart of Anhai. The feather is a direct symbol of the goddess of Truth which is Maat (Matt), she is also that little character located on the other side of the heart, which is being weighed, the person's heart is weighed against truth, to be a form of account for a person, weighing sins against goodness. Every inch of this papyrus is embedded with balance and harmony in every sense of the word. Just look at the colors, the light Green and Blue are balanced too.

A- Is called Ammut, she was a mythological creature, who was one third crocodile, one third Lion, and one third Hippopotamus. Her name literary means 'Female devourer of the dead', she is also called 'Great of Death'. These gods and goddess were not worshipped in the normal sense, and there were no temples dedicated to them.

B- This is a more famous character from ancient Egypt, known under the name of Thoth. He is the inventor of geometry, and thus he holds the tools of that talent. Another one of his forms is the Baboon, which could be seen as Thoth in his more primal form. This kind of Baboon is always sitting, like the ancient scribers of that time.
On this papyrus scroll Thoth (B) is holding the scriber tools, and noting in his journal (he is writing about Anhai's Ka). He is the witness to ones life, his book contain all things done.

C- This is the biggest character upon this papyrus scroll, as you probably notice that he has a Falcon head, which is mostly identified with Horus and/or Re. It could be either one. He is leading Anhai into the halls of the double Matt, into 'the weighing of ones heart'.

D- This is the woman placed up in the corner of the papyrus, she is wearing the feather of truth, which belongs to the goddess Matt. In some periods of ancient times, she was said to be the wife of Thoth. She was a more primal goddess than Thoth, going back to the pyramid texts and such. Matt and another goddess called Mutt are much older than these gods which we are speaking about when looking upon this papyrus scroll. Matt and Mutt could be considered as 'concepts'. It is Matt in this papyrus, illustrated with the feather over her head. If indeed she was the husband of Thoth, then she seems rightly placed, maybe she was the God of Thoth.

E– Is the other female character, she is holding her arms around Anhai. Anhai is standing in the 'Ka' position, her arms bend and raised towards the heavens. The female figure also has the feather of Matt upon her head, but also in the back of her hair. The Female depict a goddess called Imentet, which is identified by the hieroglyphic sign for 'west' above her head. She ruled the western regions of the dead.

Crypts

the chamber

Is a chamber that lies hidden, usually they are located inside the temple structure. They are usually only accessible through some sort of hidden chamber in either the floor or in the walls themselves. They are said to be uncommon in the Middle and New Kingdom of the ancient Egyptian history. They are mostly found in the later temples especially towards the Greek period.

These were chambers used for either storage of cult images, or text concerning secret rites. That type of ritual seem uninteresting (to some) since no one goes into detail about that, I have only found few books in French which I cannot read because of the language barrier.

Who was Zoser?

(also known as Djoser)

Status; Pharaoh.
Ruling period; 2668-2649 B.C.
Location; Saqqara.

We have to go back to around 2668 before the birth of Christ, before we reach the reign of the pharaoh Djoser.
In those days, one was given a birth name, until one became of age and chose another name, which is referred to as a Horus-name, so did Djoser follow his ancestor's path. He chose the name 'Netjeri-khet' which means 'Divine of the body.' We can presume that this name was the chosen one, because the name Djoser is found among the oldest of carvings, which would make him either a child or a very young boy, when those relief' were made.
The start of his reign was filled with political inner turmoil, but he would change this through his reign. His name can be found as fare south as Aswan, he probably went further south than that; I base this idea upon the fact that more temples can be found further south, but they are hardly studied (because of inner conflict in those areas).

His dearest friend and highest official gave him eternal life through his mere visions. Imhotep created the great Step Pyramid complex at Saqqara, but complex seems too sallow a word for its creation.
Remarkable walls which seem like a lost generation of buildings, which kept away from both the circular shape and all the hieroglyphic upon their walls. A most noble mind must have reign in those days, because there are no pharaoh giving gesture to the gods upon the building or anything like that, it is anonyms in that way.

I cannot find that much about him in general, but rather more about the pyramid itself and theories about its purpose. Who Djoser really might have been in person, seems as big a mystery as his great vizier Imhotep.
The carvings mostly show Djoser engaged in the Heb-sed festival, where he performs the Heb-sed ritual.
Nor have there been found that many statues of him. If I understand everything correct, then Djoser' foot is the only part found of his body…

Even more remarkable is how suddenly such a huge and magnificent structure was build and with such complex attributes, which seem to have no deeper meaning, or do they? And there would never be another like it!

People tend to believe that the Pyramids were empty when they were first opened, but this is not true. The Great Pyramids at Giza are the most popular pyramids among people today, but in fact there are many pyramids even down to Sudan.
But even thou the Great Pyramids are so famous, how many people know about what was found inside the pyramids, when they were first opened after thousands of years?
One thing that might baffle people for eternity, could be why so few if any people have been found in their sarcophagus in the pyramids of Egypt? Or why so many lids seem to be of some sort of importance, based on their placement and different looks? Or why they all seem to follow a curtain building plan, in the placement of the rocks and even holes.

The Granit Tomb Chamber (Supposedly Djoser's resting place);
There were found pieces of mummies in this chamber. Under an outer roughly linen layer, another much finer linen layer was found which was neatly wrapped around the sense and bones of the mummy. This was a uniquely technique, used only in the old kingdom and maybe even before the old kingdom.
New C14 age testing has revealed that the mummies are several hundred of years younger than Zoser (Djoser).

The Eastern Shafts and Galleries underneath Zoser's Step Pyramid;
This Pyramid is a most fascinating building, and it is build up in different stages.
But below the step pyramid, there has been found something more mysterious. A deep structure underneath the pyramid, where there is eleven shafts/corridors that stretch towards the west.
The Galleries called I and IV, have apparently been used as tombs, because two intact sarcophagus of Alabaster were found there and fragments of even more were also found.
The Gallery called III, could be seen as a corridor that leads to an opening of a little bit bigger room, which were covered by fine Limestone. There were also found the Hip bone of an 18 years old woman, and the tomb bore the sigil of Zoser's Horus name and two other titles which belonged to Imhotep.
New C14 Age testing has revealed something, which only adds to the secrets of the Pyramid of Zoser. One set of bones belonging to a woman, dates to several generations Before Zoser.
The Gallery called VI and IX, contained a beautiful collection of stone vessels, and stacks of plates and cups. Most of the items were made of Alabaster, but there were also found other fine stone materials among the items. All together there were around 40.000 objects. Many objects had inscriptions upon them, and they clearly did not belong to Zoser, they probably belonged to his pharaoh ancestors.

The most obvious mystery to Zoser's Step Pyramid;
Is probably the other Tomb, which is also known as the 'South Tomb.' Excavation lead archeologist to discover not one but two different underground levels. Both have an inner tomb chamber, but they are as fare as I know, two different sizes. There are countless of theories as to why this South Tomb exists.

The laser-light & sound show by the Giza plateau at night

The Giza plateau is a magical place to walk, and the mysteries of this place are not few. Most visitors see the Great pyramids at day time, and tend to miss the other side of these magnificent structures.
When the sun sets and the star covered darkness arrives, the lights are lithe by the great pyramids. Orion stands in the background as a guardian of the holy night, Sirius she watches on beside him.
"Behold…," A deep beautiful Oxford voice declares from behind the ancient rocks. Suddenly the Sphinx turns from Beautiful light yellow to a deep reddish color, as the voice speaks in the name of this fascinating sculpture of rocks, "They gave me the name of Sphinx…."
Laser lights shoot its way around the Pyramids, giving away their locations in the dark of night.

Sound and Light-Show Details:

The Light and Sound Show starts at;
6.30 pm October-April (winter)
8.30 pm May-September (summer).

If you are staying in a Hotel, then there should be a information office for the guides from the different companies. There should be some information about the light shows in Egypt, but as I remembered this information always seemed to be lacking. But if you ask at your Hotel reception for the guide's hours, they gladly help. Then use the Guides office time, and ask them for details about the evenings Sound and Light Show. You should also be able to make a excursion (trip) through them, this means that the guides takes care of everything for you, and all you need to do is follow the instructions, which should be given very clearly (and never be afraid to ask any questions, even twice).
It is both easy and cheaper to do it yourself, because you off course need to pay the guide for their extra work.

If you would like to go alone, then I would recommend walking if your Hotel is in a okay distance from the Pyramids. But if you live a much longer distance from the Pyramids, then a cab is both cheap and easy. To have absolutely no problems under your way, then I would recommend you do one thing before you leave your Hotel (actually two in One); When your in the reception, then ask them to write the Arabic name for the light and sound show at the Pyramids or at the Giza plateau, on a small piece of paper. This will firstly give your presence to the Hotel personal if you should get lost, then they'll know. If you kindly tell your cap driver that you going to the area of the Pyramids, in English, then hand him the piece of paper with the Arabic name, and off you go. You can make some good deals with your cap driver, for a return trip too, or you can take another - up to you. Finding the office to buy your ticket for the show, might seem a little bit confusing, because everything is new to one. So I recommend that you ask the cap driver to drive to the ticket office by the pyramids, but asking people will also help you right of the back, they are truly a very helpful people, and never really appreciated for their kindness.
